I first ran across this famous poem many years ago while in German class at college. Ever since I've been reminded of its insight and truth. Loosely translated, this is Goethe's "reminder": "Why do you always want to seek further for the good things that are all around you? Just learn to reach out and grab hold of your happiness. Then it will always be with you."

Willst du immer weiter schweifen?
Sieh, das Gute liegt so nah.
Lerne nur das Glueck ergreifen;
Denn das Glueck ist immer da.
